I havent had any issues with this yet but i imagine if you bought the wrong size it could possibly be awkward when taking a knee. The M16 is another great example. So Im looking for some Multicam combat pants with built in kneepads and both look cool but despite this being a fashion sub, comfort is a point Id like to have. I was recently issued the Level 9 uniforms and have to say i like them a bit more than the Crye Uniforms. The only reasoning was the kneepads on the pants and the pockets on the shirts though.

Crye introduced their beautiful work of art into the tactical world years ago, and in my opinion will always be the gold standard. In summary, I think you'd be happy with both, but I don't think you'd ever question your decision after buying a pair of Crye's.

You can make a case that L9s are patterned better, and that Crye just uses stretch to get around otherwise poorly fitted pants, but in the end Cryes are more comfortable and the kneepads are better. It'd be unfair to say I'm not biased in my decision, but to my defense, most guys I know if given a choice would choose Crye 99/100 times. Also the Lvl 9 uniforms have a cinch system above and below the Joint Protection that allows you to tighten the knee pads to your knee rather than height adjustment on the Crye's. I have also ran both, and what Etch_Bravo says is the truth! Massif could not use Crye knee pads in their commercial products because Crye has a patent, but the government owns the rights to the ACP and all it's design elements. For tops it's a bit more of a toss-up. Crye combat pants are better than Patagonia L9 in most respects.
On the Army version with the snap in Knee pads, they used Tweeve (stretch fabric) on the actual knee itself. The Lvl 9 uniforms are sewn with articulated Knees and Elbows and have a gusseted crotch while the Crye Uniforms are sewn pretty flat and only started gusseting their crotch on the combat pants with the release of the Gen 3s.
Then again there are no butt pockets on the Lvl 9 uniforms and there are on the Crye uniforms in the end it is obviously up to you which uniform you choose, i have both, but in the end if i had to chose it would be the Pata Lvl 9s.
think a Patagonia 34L is close to sizing as a CRYE 32R? The Patagonia uniform is just a different cut from the Crye uniform. You pay the order on receipt at the delivery service office in your city.

Because the AOR1/2 sets were produced to NSW specifications and NSW specified they need to fit Crye knee pads. Anyone run either pair and have your opinions on them? I absolutely prefer the Crye Field top, but the Patagonia combat top is pretty solid. The latest L9s I've seen are using printed stretch material rather than solid and are actually the same as Crye G3s with the stretching gusseted crotch. The Level 9 uniform is sewn by Patagonia for USSOCOM units and to this day is actively used by the fighters of American special forces. Money transfers are made to the PrivatBank card. I also find the Patagonia try to sag at the waistline more then the crye do, both are very comfortable compared to normal military issue pants but crye take the cake for me, and I got both for free. I've been trying to get my hands on a L9 shirt for a while but every one I've seen has been pretty overpriced and the beyond ones look weird. There are Velcro straps on the back under the knee to help control the fit of the knee pad to the leg. In terms of comfort, I believe Crye has more adjustment "settings" than Patagonia, but I'd need to verify and my pants are at work. Patagonia isn't terrible anymore.

I have the Pata compared with Crye pants the pata are little bit smaller but, not too much. When Patagonia copied their blueprint, they experienced massive failures in durability. For example, the Army Combat Pant are some kind of bastardized Crye combat pant (I think they are basically FR G3s), but ACPs are produced by Crye, Massif and two other lesser known companies. Anybody who got those 2 uniforms and can how they compare.
I'm pretty sure Crye still has the patent on their style of knee pad and pocket, so obviously Patagonia couldn't just rip it off. However, you can stick a variety of non Patagonia pads inside the pocket, they'll just have the fabric covering them. i can see this eventually wearing the tweeve here out as well as when not wearing the knee pads (which i rarely do).
