So sometimes in like my math and science classes, its really easy sometimes for me to get discouraged when I dont have everything right the first time and I think giving myself grace and allowing myself to make mistakes and realizing that everything is just a learning experience, and Im here to gain more knowledge helps me ease into things so much more. One survey conducted included U.S. women ages 18 and older who graduated with STEM degrees, and another survey included boys and girls ages 11-15. in STEM who have a female boss say they plan to remain in STEM, completing the Abbott program went on to pursue a STEM degree or job, in STEM who had mentors early in their career say they plan to stay in STEM. So just keep going. College students across the U.S. were ready for good times in the sun as spring break was about to kick off this year. Each year on the last Thursday in July, employers take the opportunity to celebrate their hard-working interns on National Intern Day. Duck to water. One of those partners is Roseville Area High School in Roseville, Minn., where Principal Christina Hester has seen the benefits of Abbott's STEM internship firsthand. Which is good, but then sometimes you see women going in and saying, Oh, I cant do this, Im not perfect. So I think thats really important in terms of the approach is encouraging young women to make sure that they understand they can do it and they will do it. You may think you want to go into a specific area of engineering, but maybe youll take that course in neuroscience and youll love it. Jomi: So, changing topics a bit. But that will happen. And I had no idea. We track internship program success based on metrics that include program growth, diversity of applicants, if interns remain in the STEM fields, and if high school interns continue into our college program and become full-time employees.. And thats okay. What do you recommend? And then also partnering with others. And just keep on keeping on. So when you started your first math course you didnt know it. High school girls value creative thinking and want a career that has a positive impact on the world but dont always know how science and engineering can give them both, due to a lack of exposure. I dont know if I can accomplish this. And Jomi, have you ever, youve used GPS before, right, when youre driving? Interns have the opportunity to work in functions that include engineering, science, finance, information technology, and marketing on flexible 10-12 week assignments during the summer. In the weeks after our campaign, we heard from the U.S. State Department, U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation, NASA, the Society of Women Engineers, among others., The blueprint has received a good deal of coverage and attention from media outlets and on YouTube and social media.
