If only it didn't have the bamboo. . I got a hint of fruityness but it was quickly replaced by the woody undertones in this fragrance. Blueberry and vanilla, yesbut why do I also get a boatload of patchouli and musk?! Im not a fragrance expert but somehow this reminds me of Limperatrice because of the sweet fruity green vibes in the opening. Unique and fun to wear! Not sweet not fresh something in the middle. The YT people were right after all Ladies and gentleman @GwenH below has most succinctly and accurately described this scent for you. The scent is meh which is disappointing considering how beautiful some of Vilhelms other scents are. I'm usually very unconvinced by 'dupes' but sprayed side by side I could barely smell them apart. I feel like nowadays, fragrance houses are producing copies of copies. My unboxing and first impression were so basic. the vanilla makes it a little powdery but for once i don't mind that i think it actually works quite nicely. I have to admit, the extra element(s) of Decadence make it seem more complex and interesting, but also a bit more dangerous. A dark combination of carousel's and ghost trains, the warmth of a late summer eve and the sticky candied alcoholic flavour of the the cotton candy is not what I imagined for Poet's of Berlin but I am enthralled by the narcotic quality of this unexpected brew. This particular fragrance is seemingly all anyone is talking about and I was extremely excited and fully prepared to join the chorus but it's downright unpleasant on me. If you like sweet scents, especially sweet vanilla scents you will probably like this one. Blueberry, lemon, vanilla, and sandalwood are all very nice. I don't like it. After 8 hrs its just delicious, creamy vanilla. I do not tolerate the scent of cigarettes or cigars so this is just unwearable for me and gave me an instant headache. As a new fragrance lover, Poets of Berlin reminds me why expensive perfumes are so, so worth it - it's so nuanced and layered. The vanilla takes over more as it dries down. Fragrance Reviews: 1,286,767 It's rich but not overly sweet or cloying because the woods and the fruit give it some zing. That effect softens after a few minutes but it is enought to put me off. Very very herbal bamboo on my skin. Ive only sampled Poets of Berlin, but to me its super reminiscent of La Vie Est Belle and Sofia by Sofia Vergara. When I spray it on my skin, I immediately get the green notes. Not sure but i get a very gentle smoky experience with a soft fruit trailing in the middle. Definitely worth sampling! Hard pass. Perfumes: 73,887 Very nice watery green scent i.e. Certainly long-lasting, can smell the fragments of vanilla on my clothes two days after application. It's a perfect blend of sweet, but not cloying, biscuit; light citrusy fruit; and a bit of heady floral. I've had this for a year now and the vanilla has deepened. I received a sample of this yesterday and was very excited to smell it. Absolutely a unisex scent, would highly recommend you get a sample if you want to try it out first. When I got my hands on a 5 ml decant and tested it on my skin a bit longer, I found it somewhat tiring. I enjoy it, but not sure if it's something I want a FB of. I dont understand how people are getting desserts and blueberries but i dig it for what it is . This actually leans gourmand. It is still bright and happy, and makes a good day-time fragrance, but it is just not for me. I am about to finish my first 50 ml. It opened up with that same greenness (which must be the bamboo) and then it settled down, and it wasn't so bad after all, but the lemon blueberry cake was nowhere to be smelled. To my nose it is totally original and like nothing else I have ever come across. Either way, its definitely an enjoyable scent, and I like it quite a bit. Way too green for my taste. I feel like its an important PSA to make sure you know that Floral Street Wild Vanilla Orchid is the same perfumer & virtually the same fragrance. This to me seems like the grown up cousin of Limperatrice. This smells SO stale on me. Oh no. It starts off so spunky and watery and then turns into a cozy bedtime story. Marissa Zappas Announces A New Collection + A Giveaway! I dont know how something can be sweet and yet so fresh and clean at the same time, but this does it! Its delicious. I received a free sample and once I smelled it, I was hooked. Neither do I think of any poets when I smell it. Oh this is beautiful. u can easily blind buy this one without being disappointed! I dont get vetiver (or the Bowie or Berlin references), but I still really enjoy this. And there's a vanilla air freshener hanging off the rearview. The green here is still primary, and gourmand secondary. It reminds me of sitting in an old 70's sedan that had owners that partied a lot, and chain-smoked in it with the windows up. This is definitely a multi-dimensional fragrance. I quite like it! Like walking through the forest in late summer, which is covered in ripeblueberry bushes, just after the rain. Then dries down to a nauseating artificial blueberry scent. All I get is the scent of generic perfume strips from the inside of InStyle circa 2005. It smells like the residue of sweet perfume and cigarettes from a night out that you want to forget because the stench makes you nauseous the day after. This is a nostalgic scent it reminds me of my daily routine of buying croissant and coffee when I studied abroad. It's more sophisticated. I'm still pretty new at this hobby but im very surprised to see the notes bc i dont quite understand how they all maanaged to fit there. To me it smells like walking into a warm greenhouse. The orris here isn't so much the powdery sort, due to the bamboo + vetiver notes firmly flattening the typically powdery orris to a rooty, bittery likeness closer to that of freshly splintered carrots. Magnetic & delicious with a dash of carefree romantic accord! The opening is greener, fresher, and vetiver and bamboo waft in and out of the dry down, and thats is pretty cool. Science Says Maybe, From the Gardens of Versailles to the Gardens of Babylon; The Allure of Olfactory Exploration Beckons at Jardin de Parfums, Priceless Perfume Bottles: An Auction of Poetry in Glass, The Ghost Perfumer by Gabe Oppenheim: on Creed & The Industry, a Book Review. And let me say, Im glad I did! I think it's just a bad mix on myself. I really like this. It does have more complexity. By all accounts, accords and notes, I should LOVE this but it just doesnt do it for me. Vilhelm Parfumerie's Poets of Berlin is supposed to smell like blueberries and lemon, but I get blueberries MAYBE for like 3 seconds on the opening, and then it smells kind of like the interior of a cardboard box, plus some indistinguishable fruit on my skin. I'm German and have to Berlin countless times, and I don't see this city in this scent at all. Love it. Fragrantica Inc, United States. Epicene Gamma IFF: The Common Part of Spicy Men's Colognes of the 1980s. So disappointed as I love iris and was excited about the blueberry note. Poets of Berlin leaves me puzzled in that regard. I usually feel a little bit like they smell like I went outside and got sweaty, but I think I can do this. This perfume makes me feel queasy. It smells like a beautiful sexy lady that came out of a bar where ppl smoke there, she has a sweet fragrance that got mixed with other ppls scents (perhaps men lol).. But I dont smell blueberry per se. I find Poets of Berlin to be a slightly more clean fragrance, with just a slightly weaker intensity and longevity, which makes it seem like the safer fragrance to wearbut I find myself missing that strange extra element from Decadencethe "cosmetic" smell. On initial spray, smells super green, which I'm not a fan of. The quality and lasting power are fine, so, if you happen to enjoy it, it can make a great fragrance for you. Very Bowie in that way. (not listed in the scents, but it comes across that way on me). If I change my mind Ill fess up. It defiantly has a decadence vibe but even more I think it is similar to Xerjoff Ouvature but more smooth and sweet! This smells like being a kid in the 80s playing with your friends Blueberry Muffin doll while sitting on their dusty shag carpet next to the full ashtray on the coffee table. This smells almost identical to Acqua di Parma Colonia Note III but not as strong. In the opening the bamboo is very prominent. Deilicious green blueberry and vanilla. I was ready to be blown away because this fragrance is raved about everywhere, but it smells so synthetic and strange. Im a massive fan of this beautiful fragrance. the opening is slightly sweet and aromatic, u can feel the blueberries first and then a hint of lemons comes fast, it slowly becomes more earthy-like while stars to dry, but once it dries down well is just heaven!!! Not bad if you like that but not exactly what I was going for. I think I will get me a bottle. I really wanted to love this but it smells bready, soapy, and stale on me. It's woody, perplexing, deep, yet light thanks to that fruit. It did not induced any headaches nor sneezing on me, so thats a good sign. I like both of them with Poets of Berlin being slightly better but unlikely to buy Poets given the cost and overall casual/amateur vibe for such a pricey niche brand. this is cute; i was put off initially by the opening because it kind of caught me off guard. this is beautiful. Did not have a strong silage and didn't seem to last. I'm usually not into fragrances that are this sweet but the bamboo adds something really unique to this and I just can't stop smelling it. What I do get from this fragrance is an awful lot like freshly snapped green pea pods. To some people, this might make it a cosy, comforting experience. Sweet blueberries, lemons and vanilla with some woods. I recently bought 7 samples of different perfumes I was interested in, thinking this would be my favorite. major bamboo note that smells a little figgy to me too, perhaps with that mixing with the vanilla and sandalwood to give that woody creamy aspect. Marc Jacobs Daisy Ever So Fresh Eau de Parfum, New Magnolias This Summer (2022): L'Eau D'Issey Eau & Magnolia, Miu Miu Twist Eau de Magnolia, and Beautiful Magnolia Intense Estee Lauder. I don't smell blueberries, but I do smell a fruity sweetness along with mild citrus. so sweet and green and tart but also it smells like a pastry. Not the white floral itself, but just the greenish notes from the freshly bloomed flower. My mum is never usually a vanilla perfume type of lady but she smelt this and fell in love so we now share a bottle lol. To me, it seems like something cheap and sweet a young teenager might douse themselves in, but for $250 for 100 ml, I don't understand why someone would pay so much for something so mediocre when you could get something similar for much, much cheaper in a TJ Maxx or Bath & Body Works. The opening is unpleasant: its bitter kinda cigarette smell, then it developed into a citrusy lemon scent and vanilla, with a hint of green notes. this is such a beautiful scent. I got 0 compliments, and my partner actually told me he hated it so much he could hardly stand it on me. My favorite from this house. But I'm currently at the office wearing it since 5 hours ago and I can even smell myself, which is rare because I am usually anosmic to my own scent. Up close you can discern some differences but the scent trail is really similar. I love the warm vanilla scent that it melts into. I did however also spray it on a jumper and a few days later it still smelled and the scent definitely had a little more of a fruity note there. Then the lemon dies down a bit and it becomes more sugary. Torn apart atom by atom, the small jammy fruit merged with the glinting shards of sugary bling and a blisteringly caustic glow-in-the-dark citrus-lily. I love it. As with other reviews, I was excited to smell blueberry and lemon, but ended up unsatisfied. It's very woody and smoky. The lasting vanilla reminds me of Vanilla Woods, which I can't stand, but somehow it works so well with this fragrance - probably because it isn't cloying and overwhelming like VW. Its sweet, fruity, tangy/sour/green but the vanilla in this really gives the fragrance a bit more character, but not far from smelling like a designer. The top notes of blueberry and vanilla are the biggest players and the scent, performance, silage, and longevity are slightly above average. Not a blind buy but easy enough to like. I still dont dislike it by any means but I just tend to stay away from greener notes as theyre not really me. I am obssesed I need it! The sweetness of the blueberry and the vanilla really makes it edible! This scent also lasts literally forever on me and my clothes. "Fruity Musk" would have been a more fitting name. There's also a faint smoke in the background that gives it a mysterious vibe. It's cloying. If your not sold buy a tester, but this has been the best blind buy Ive ever got. After some minutes, you get something of a green-gourmand. The scent is woody, amber-y, and has a STRONG vanilla scent imo, but,,,, nothing else really. This one was a breath of fresh (creamy) air. I absolutely LOVE a good woody vanilla so no surprise there that I love this too. It smells like blueberry cheesecake in a bamboo forest, there is a lot of bamboo here, it is very juicy and green. Its been a while since Ive smelled something that actually shocked me. vilhelm parfumerie poets The opening of this is a lot greener than I expected it to be and it kind of put me off. I would skip this one if you're not a fan of more intense and gourmand scents. Very heavy on the lemon at first spray with realistic blueberry. Its a 7/10 for me. As weird as it may sound.. the smell from the initial spray is like a stinkbug. This perfume opens up VERY green, which I am not a fan. This is the kind of gourmand I can get into. Soft woody vanilla with blueberries. A smushed, smelly stinkbug. I was hoping it would be more dominated by the blueberry, which certainly makes its presence known, but shares the stage more than I expected. I do however appreciate it's uniqueness, but it's definitely not for me. Vanilla is still in the background, doing its magic of sugaring the intensity of the green characteristic down to a softer, pastel minimal. I guess all I'm getting is the vetiver and it is giving me a white musk feel. I can maybe see why people would want to smell like this.but to me it is the most puke inducing scent ever and I want to scrub it off my arms. On first sniff I get the blueberry but not just the fruit. This is currently my favorite fragrance on my skin I get a rich creamy sweet blueberry that would almost be too much if not for the bamboo. Its fruity, green and sweet but not too sweet. Like an abstract perfume version of a lovely blueberry dessert. Maybe I need more time with it? The description of the blueberry note drew me in so I bought it. The dry down is a really classy vanilla, it smells high end and not cheap or synthetic. If you love your gourmands and want something super different and charming that not everyone has, poets of Berlin is for you. not for me. From opening to leaving it on my skin, it just smells so naunced. This wasnt a decantit came in the brands packaging (spray bottle) from Twisted Lily. i'm not crazy about it, and it doesn't last nearly as long as i'd like it to (disappeared pretty quickly. There's a modern, synthetic sandalwood under everything that I do find pleasing; and the sweetness, whilst intense, has a very cool aspect to it which stops it from being cloying. Definitely not a safe blind buy since I can see where this is polarizing and changing with everyones body chemistry. Well, strangely, they are almost EXACTLY the same, but this fragrance seems to fix what is considered to be a problem with Decadence: what people describe as a somewhat "cosmetic" or "synthetic" smell. If you want to smell like a very expensive blueberry muffin with a lemon drizzle, this is for you. I didnt get any blueberry scent The dry down is vanilla with the lemon in the background. As in blueberry pie with 10 blueberries and 5 spoons of vanilla sugar. I dont know where but it takes me back to somewhere very nostalgic. but maybe it's just not that strong in general), but it's nice and gentle and i think it would suit anyone! "Named for David Bowie's Berlin Trilogy, Poets of Berlin is a subtly sugary confection of blueberry and lemon. To me the opening smell of blueberry and lemon gives it a fizzy like characteristic, very different but super intriguing. The one difference that I can detect is that Poets of Berlin has a sugared quality to it, as well as a fresh lightness that I am assuming is coming from the lemon and bamboo notes. Gorgeous blueberry vanilla scent. Wow I was not expecting this. I don't get either blueberry or lemon, and while there is perhaps a soft berry-ish note along with a bunch of florals and vanilla, it's much too sickeningly sweet for me. I'm so disappointed. it's a lot less woody and a lot sweeter than i expected (on me, at least). It dries down sweet and green. I don't typically go for green notes. Reminds me of a Yankee Candle air freshener trying to mask a smell with no source in a used car. But Poets of Berlin isn't just empty calories: its vetiver undercurrent makes it the perfect perfume metaphor for the serious talent underneath Bowie's glittery glam.". Again, shocked by the Vilhelm hype. Overall, it's a gorgeous scent. Both fragrances probably smell virtually the same to others. Poets of Berlin just performs slightly better and is a little more complex. I occasionally smell the vanilla, but I think the woody notes prevent it from being too juvenile. And while it's beautiful, it also smells almost identical to Marc Jacob's Decadence. No blueberries to speak of and as people have pointed out, vegetal vanilla. Perhaps it's the vetiver base which makes the whole seem rather striking and unusual? The blueberry caught me by surprise -- it comes across as juicy and perfectly sweet while not being overly so. I can see how others might like it and maybe it smells better on other people, but not me! Unlike previous reviewers, I find this fragrance surprisingly long-lasting. The dry down is way better than opening and it is a nice scent but I cant get past the green earthy opening. The initial burst of blueberry is intoxicating & brings to mind a funfair at night. Adore it. I get a house with a cigarette smoker living in it who has air fresheners to try to hide the cigarette smell. Settles into a gorgeous vanilla within the first hour, after two it turns a lot more woody with a hint of tobacco or fig? I've seen a few people describe this as linear, which I don't agree with at all - it changed from an almost masculine scent when spraying, to a beautiful lemon-blueberry-vanilla after around 20 minutes, to a creamy and nuanced vanilla after a few hours. Received tons of compliments (once a friend of mine wanted me to spray it around his room, I of course refused the suggestion since it was only a small decant) and many looks, both alarming, both charming mind you it's an intoxicating scent so I believe the confidence it radiates may create malaise amongst a company that has tendencies of envy. I love it!!!! This fragrance smells like that friend of yours who is very mature yet youthful and always comforting. The nose behind this fragrance is Jrme Epinette. Poets of Berlin from Vilhelm Parfumerie is a vile bioluminescent mutant blueberry thing. Really nothing special. After the first 20-30 mins I like it a LOT better which is where it becomes that gourmand, sweet blueberry/lemon cake that others have mentioned. After the first test in a shop I was intrigued and I really wanted to get a full bottle. I can see my self wearing it all year long. The reviews are amazing and the notes are so unique, plus I am always trying to get away from more mainstream perfumes and try independent brands. Longevity is good and projection is within arm's length. Gets so much better as it develops! And truly lovely. Its spring, its summer, its autumn its winter. I think this is my favorite fragrance of all time right now! When I saw blueberry and lemon listed as notes, as a foodie, I got really excited---only to be supremely disappointed. It lacked freshness in my opinion. Smells like blueberry rum fizz to me, if you like gourmand with boozy notes definitely worth a try. I am not sure when, but maybe it has that nostalgic vibe. I ordered a sample from Twisted Lily & I'm in love. Got a husband compliment, which is always a great bonus! Aroma by Costa Brazil: Candidate For Best Fragrance 2022? As it dries the blueberry stays and becomes smooth and vanilla with a warm wood. Top notes are Blueberry and Lemon; middle notes are Bamboo and Orris; base notes are Vanilla, Sandalwood and Vetiver. I typically don't like fruit or very sweet scents, but I really like this one in particular, probably because of the bamboo. I enjoy Ani more but this is gorgeous. There's a similar note in there that is magical. Sweet and fresh. This smells like a lemon & blueberry vanilla cake to me and I absolutely love it. It smells good but it also smells like a cigar. If you like gourmand scents this is one to try out. The lemon is pretty mild, but it adds a brightness too the overall scent. There are some contrasts at work in this fragrance that I suppose could be 'art school'-y if worn on the right person, but more generally, it's an unsophisticated foodie smell. I get a lot of blueberry, and I agreed the review below smell like blueberry cake in the opening and first 2 hours, after blueberry scent fade out. I can see why this is so popular. vilhelm parfumerie fellini This is an ultra sweet vanilla and blueberry cake, candy-like pretty much. Has the VP base that is present in just about all of their fragrances. I am still trying to figure this one out. I used to wear this around february-march; when the weather is in an in-between session with mildness and ice-cold, suits that kind of weather and night-life perfectly. Oh, this is really lovely. I decided to buy the smaller size (20mL) after trying a sample from Twisted Lily. I get blueberry, bamboo and vanilla. I ordered a sample out of curiosity and because I was trying to fill my basket to justify the cost of shipping. This smells like a pastry: butter, vanilla, flaky crust. Poets of Berlin seems to have better quality ingredients and a slightly more clarified fragrance but for the cost Im not sure its worth it. On me it's incredibly gourmand, bringing to mind memories of wearing Britney Spears' Midnight Fantasy in the 00s. A blueberry subjected to a sketchy, underfunded experiment in a prototype telepod but there was also a particle of lemon-aloe-bamboo Glade air freshener in the chamber before it was hermetically sealed as well as a smashed bedazzle gem that fell off of an interns acrylic nail, unnoticed. It's sweet, but smells very cheap, it reminds me of kids perfume. I was very excited for the blueberry lemon notes but on my skin honestly it was just a woody, almost smoky vanilla. A delicious trail of sweet vanilla swirls in the air and interweaves in-between the lattices of the aforementioned fruits and deeply green bamboo, in addition to a prominent starchy, orris blend. Not at all what I imagine Bowie smelling like lol. opening: very strong, blueberry, ever so slightly medicinal, fresh tangy lemon, mixed feelings, kind of dishwashery. Not too sweet but definitely gourmand category. It is a unique one, the woodsiness is a green sugarcane, and the berries and lemon add a tartness to it that do make it feel a bit like a vanilla cake. Citrus notes that don't go too far into "cleaning products" territory. I've been wearing it this summer, but I know its warm nature will be wonderful to wear throughout the fall and winter as well. I feel like it is a reminder of my teenage years with the edge of this phase of my 30's. I think the vetiver really balances it out. The wonder of this scent is how its light & airy yet sophisticated. I find it doesn't last very long, which I disappointing based on the price. I was reading descriptions thinking surely this one wouldn't be for me as the blueberry and dessert notes didn't sound like something I wanted to smell like. It smells like a blueberry jelly bean melted on a vanilla bamboo car air freshener, but in the best way possible.
