The Berggasthaus Mnnlichen (+41 (0) 33 853 10 68) is located above the village. The Eigergletscher, the regions highest restaurant up at 2320m is also good, with, if its possible, even more stunning views than the rest. Away from the bars, theres plenty to do off the slopes, including tobogganing from the Wengernalp rail station, curling, ice skating, swimming and winter walking, as well as a cinema. Their personalised teaching is guaranteed to improve the customer's skiing or boarding standard faster than normal group lessons. This unassuming building surprises guests with a modern-rustic interior, great mountain views. If youre feeling chilly after skiing, warm up with a hot and spicy glass of Gluhwein. With music (sometimes live) on sunny days, it makes a great pitstop on the way back down to Wengen grab a deckchair with a view of the Eiger, Mnch and Jungfrau. Brilliant kids menu. A very personal, luxurious 4-star option, Beausite Park Hotel is a short walk from the village centre. This hotel is also remembered where I experienced the first cheese fondue in my life. Good food The staff was very accommodating, professional and fast. Theres a cosy atmosphere here, usually quite busy but not overwhelmingly so. There are several Italian options including the cosy Ristorante Pizzeria Steakhouse Da Sina (+41 (0) 33 855 31 72) which, slightly ironically given its comprehensive name, has a strong reputation for its fish dishes as well as the pizza, pasta and steak. It was a shame that we were met with a confused look after asking for an 'Old Fashioned', and that there were perhaps a few too many pink peppercorns in my gin and tonic (stopping me from drinking it easily), but the flavour of the gin and tonic was excellent and nicely balanced. Cafe Gruebi (tel: +41 588 555 855) serves a good coffee but is also a nice spot for an evening beer, with a terrace for when the sun is shining. If you want to treat your taste-buds to delicious drinks, then this is bar for you. The service was excellent and the location was convenient to the Coop grocery store and the train station. Chill out among old photos of Wengen, creaky wooden floorboards, mismatched original furniture and often live piano music too. The beef cheek ravioli - amazing and the Diavola pizza lovely. Their collections of gins, cocktails and beers on offer mean theres something for absolutely everyone. Brilliant vibe at this bar, and great drinks and food . Restaurant was packed but they managed to seat us quickly with no reservations. We were so impressed with the good, so tasty and good.
