The benefit to that would be that most baby crib mattress come with a plastic or water repellant cover which would be lovely for patio use. hi Ana Thanks for sharing! I made mine in redwood which looks very pretty with all the different colors and patterns in it. The hubby wanted me to use recycled 4x4's so I changed up the arms a bit, but they fit with the rest. (3) Used plywood for the seat instead of 2x4s, was going to add hinges so I could swing the seat up to store stuff under it, but just screwed it down instead. Hi can someone help me understand this plan. Those step-by-step instructions are much clearer than the text-only procedure written here. I noticed there is a 28 1/2" piece needed for the arm, but the cut list does not have this length listed, just a heads up! I'd like to make two of these for my patio. Just attach 5 of the 25-1/2 long 2x4s to 2 of the 72 long 2x4s, spacing about 16 apart. This plan is for the One Arm Sofa. if the sections are 4x2 so the widest point is 4" the smallest is 2" so simple maths 25.5" + the 2 + 2" sections adds upto 29.5" NOT 28.5" so they are 1" too short. I am doubting these plans and see lots of potential holes in the engineering especially if there are no solutions or replies to the followers/builders. I completed one side this pas weekend. Cant find self-tapping exterior deck screws, the ones i did find say wood to metal, not wood to wood. I used cedar and added the extra boards so the cushions would stay put. We also made the arms 2x6 boards so we wouldnt need end tables for the couch. Build the seat frame using the self tapping screws. The video has all the step by step instructions. Also would it be good to add a support in the middle or no need? Can I ask, what program you use to do these diagrams, I'd like to modify the design a bit to fit my requirements, Love the diagrams etc. This is very nice. the top rails on the sides are NOT long enough. I built the low back modern chairs and my husband isn't crazy about them because of no back. I hope you feature this design on your website with the sketchup illustrations. Would you recommend cheaper wood that would also last long time outdoors (pressure treated pine, redwood). I'm pretty happy with how it turned out. This allows me to use seat cushions for the back instead of pillows. Is there a way to modify this plan to match the Modern Outdoor Chair from 2x4s and 2x6s? We used the cheapest we could find from At Home, the ones that included the top and bottom as one, and had to add some extra throw pillows for added comfort since the back seems to dig in when you sit! 
I used only 8ft boards - think you can get away with 15 of them as I recall. I'm going to go with a walnut stain though, because it will match better with the house overall. If I were to use 2x4x8s how many would i need? Remove all sanding residue on work surfaces as well. Very odd. Build Seat Frame:

I don't think the dimensions are exactly right, but it occurred to me that it is close enough to adapt to the size of a baby crib mattress. For your convenience, here's the plans in this collection. Place decking on top, evenly spacing, and screw down, two screws per joint (recommended). I also put the back board vertical instead of horizontal for a little more support, I don't see any reason why to make it differently, its still deep seating and fit standard cushions from Lowes. It looks great and is comfortable. Love it! These are absolutely BEAUTIFUL. Use 2-1/2 exterior decking screws. To finish the arms, add another 25- long board underneath the arm middle. Another important tip for you is to choose the wood that is completely straight, so I always go to pick mine, I never trusted ask for delivery when woods is involve, they can send any random and not completely straight, hope this help. Is the cut list suppose to have the one 2x4 @ 28 1/2 for the top of the single arm rest? When wood filler is completely dry, sand the project in the direction of the wood grain with 120 grit sandpaper. think you need to update the cutlist so it's correct. Some builders add a middle row to the back/sides to help keep cushions in line. Ana makes two projects here as well, one project is a sofa with arms and the other project is a sectional, she uses these same plans for both. These are extremely hard to find so I am interested to know what others did for cushions. I made on but changed it up just a little, but the basic plans didn't change much.
