First Hercules stand I got was for holding three guitars, within a month or so one of the clasping mechanisms failed. The grip was sticky, and the adjustment handle had fallen off. To obtain warranty service for US purchases, please contact your local HERCULES dealer. Is that hard? The process was a simple email correspondence with a few details and pictures of the stands. No matter, I never used the adjustable height feature. The new one has a grip that is smooth, hard plastic, unlike the slightly rubbery feel of the old one. Im interested to see what response I get. Hi Roy, I had the same problem, mine is the model that holds three guitars, and I had it collapse with three on it. THATs customer service. I watched as my Breedlove acoustic hit the (luckily carpeted) floor and toppled over (luckily again, against a plant). I have 4 hercules stands that I bought used, two have the sticky height adjuster and nob that secures the legs. This was a three guitar stand holding three basses for a performance. By And here I am. Now Ill go apologize to my son. The handles are sticky. However, it seems our friends in the UK are SOL as their distributor is saying "tough titty". I have had four of the Hercules three-guitar stands for years and found that two of the trigger handles have turned sticky and the handle snapped off one of them. Hercules came thru for me with this *sticky* issueand very quickly. In the meantime, Ive used the alcohol grip cleaner solution and a cable tie to hold the trigger in place. The Hercules stand is a pretty good idea until it doesnt work. After a couple of years of the handle of my double stand going gooey it just disintegrated tonight but luckily with nothing on it. did the trick nicely and I know if it ever does fail, Hercules will replace it. The adjustment clamp on my double Hercules stand had disintegrated, allowing a Martin guitar to drop straight down to the hardwood floor, bounce on the end pin and fall flat in the floor. I spoke to someone on the phone, i might have sent them a picture of my stands, they shipped out replacements for all of them the next day and recommended that i disassemble the old ones before disposing of them and keep the guitar hanger part as i might be able to use it elsewhere. I put the handle back into the correct place with the pivot shaft seated in the broken plastic holes and zip tied it in place right at the shaft. It want buying the new stand that worried me so much though reading some of these reports you need to key your eye on them but wasting 90% of the stand for a small component. I also recall some where on their website, mentioning they had reformulated the materials to make them safer for nitro finishes. Their customer service is fantastic! I like the black zip-ties suggestion and will try that too. Then you can shorten the stand rather easily for transport. As for the sticky; Turns out the plastic is sprayed with a feel good coating that, in time, breaks down and becomes disgustingly sticky. I returned my sticky-grip stand to Long & McQuade and received a new one in box. I did a little more of a Redneck fix, my other hobby is working on cars, so I used a hose clamp. But I'm going to cut off the height adjuster and see if I can bolt or weld it together, pretty sure I can. Grip just rotted away. Good info! My only complaint is, on the latter, the guitar hangs at a slight angle. I called customer service and sent pictures to their email. Same problem with a Hercules twin guitar stand and did the same fix that Roy posted , but cleaned up the lever drilled and fitted the screw thru with 2 locking nuts where the spring sat . That sticky mess os my exact problem. I just unwrapped it and it literally fell apart in my hand. Took about two minutes. Mine just broke at the handle as well. Trigger broke and the handle is sticky as hell. Clearly a design or manufacturing flaw they should be proactively fixing before someones valuable instrument gets damaged. Crazy to think that this has happened to a number of people and Hercules are not owning up to a clear product defect. Rub it down with I isopropyl alchohol. Isopropyl alcohol solved the sticky problem very nicely. A couple of things to add: Use the jack plug as stop pin like you would on a speaker stand. Ive had the gummy handle for a couple years now, but today was the day. I had no idea what happened. Sturdier than with that funky sticky handle! later the trigger had crumbled off the grip.
