I totally agree with dmaw. Perfect for casual wear. This is very nice and projects well. A hint of the original Red Door with a little more spice (cinnamony). I tend to wear this more in the fall and winter, it seems to suit my preferences more in the cooler weather. This variant is significantly fresher and more youthful. Fragrance Reviews: 1,286,888 The raspberry is quickly replaced by jasmine and bergamot on my skin - maybe more jasmine than bergamot. I bought this without smelling it based on some of the reviews and I'm SO glad I did! I dont find this to be very floral, and I didnt detect any honey at all. It's also very affordable while not being super well known, signature scent worthy!! Last year my niece informed me that the only perfume she wore and had worn for years was True Love and that she had fallen in love with it when I gave to her for Christmas. This is very soft and powdery. Floral, Fresh, Sweet and Spicy. The raspberry opening is very prominent - juicy! This has potential to become a signature for many young women. Then it comes the raspberry with some jasmine and lime. I haven't smelled Alien EDT, but I have smelled/owned Alien EDP. It dried down to some sort of tart and sour smell. Overall it is safe and generic, but pretty throughout the opening and middle phases. oh the vintages how i love them :) in fact i think the red door line from elizabeth arden is the best line they have..i love all the scents in the line :). Great for someone like me who's young and wants to venture into slightly more mature smelling fragerences without biting off more than they can chew. I have the Alien EDP and yes they have similarities. Umema: The Perfume That'll Never Be Smelled, Carner Barcelona - the Summer Journey Collection, Jean Paul Gaultier Scandal Pour Homme Le Parfum, Amber and Ambergris are Two Different Notes, Rice Perfumes That Stand Out From the Crowd, Should You Smell Someone Before Talking to Them? So the trick is cooler temps and not over spraying. My mum loves Red Door, but I love Red Door Velvet. I find it incredibly unpleasant, and synthetic. 'True Love', however, is not what I had initially expected. I get a lot of licorice, and it reminds me very much of Loverdose Diesel. I am wearing this today and I must say that it is very soothing. Because Aura smells like Alien EDP, just not as strong. which I enjoy. Fragrantica Club Perfume Selection Tips for Women Red Door Revealed or True Love? Wow, this is really beautiful! Perfumes: 73,898 It seemed very strong, and not in a good way. I haven't seen it again, this one is definitely nicer and more wearable. Its not my kind of smell, I cant quite remember it now to discribe to you, only that I didnt like it, but You never know you might love it. Made me sneeze! its a modern take on the original, if red door (original) were to be released now this would be it. If you are looking for a strong oriental or light fresh smell this is not it. Very beautiful fragrance. I found this disappointing, the raspberry was all I could smell. Very Beautiful Timeless fragrance. I was extremely excited to try this when I read that it smells similar to Dolce & Gabbana Pour Femme. The nose behind this fragrance is Sophie Labbe. It seems more powdery and strong. It is a lovely scent in its own right. Yes - powder, rose, jasmine, peach, iris! I have TM Alien and Ted Lapidus White Soul Gold & Diamonds (almost identical) and don't think Aura smells like either at first. I no longer got the freshness from it. Read about this perfume in other languages: Deutsch, Espaol, Franais, etina, Italiano, , Polski, Portugus, , , Nederlands, Srpski, Romn, , , , . A lovely floriental that turns smooth and amberish on my skin while retaining a certain sweetness and muskiness i love. Sandalwodd, musk and amber are all in the background making the drydown slightly creamy/spicy. LOL. Red Door Velvet was launched in 2006. I feel this one is a more modern, and playful. I've just received my bottle of red door velvet and I couldn't be more disappointed! I do get a very small amount of the original Red Door in here (of which I am a big fan) but its well blended into a sea of peppery notes and sweet smooth and seductive raspberry. Online right now: 1,864, Fragrantica in your language: It is definitely not a mature smell but more for a young princess. Now, I find myself wanting it back, thinking it might smell different. When I saw a bottle of Red Door Aura at TJ Maxx for a steal and saw the notes and some of the reviews I was intrigued and had to buy a bottle. I have found another perfume for spring, but this can easily be used all year round. The other day I got a small bottle of Aura as a gift - I was pleasantly surprised, I'll readily admit! Recovering from the flu and playing with perfumes. It projects well and lasts a long time. Online right now: 2,811, Fragrantica in your language: I get that same feeling I had when I first smelled Red Door Aura. I was hit with a sense of self familiarity and it then dawned upon me that this smells like Poison Girl by Dior with accords of Olympa by Paco Rabanne. For strong, sophisticated, independent women. Sprayed 4 sprays (at least one too many) the first day I wore this. Please read the Terms of Service and Privacy policy. Pretty. I find this fragrance to be a beautiful blend of tea, florals and musk, nothing to offend anyone. Impressed ! I couldn't wash it off fast enough. This has been in my perfume closet for two years. Smells nothing like red door at all. I want to choose just one of the two, unfortunately I can only buy the bottles unsniffed, as they aren't for sale in my country. I thought it was soft, romantic, a powdery-floral. This perfume is an easy-wearing winner for me, and even better you can find it for a fantastic price! I imagine there's Iris in this as well. I like Aura, I'm sorry it was only available in 30ml. Please read the Terms of Service and Privacy policy. I agree it is quite unsual scent. Marissa Zappas Announces A New Collection + A Giveaway! It is a perfect Holiday (Christmas/Winter) fragrance with its richness and warmth. While I don't think it's the most beautiful smell on earth anymore, I do believe it's a pretty scent again. I suppose very scent sensitive people won't like it but I'm not for sensitive people! But it ends up powdery soft with some musk and a bit of freesia and very slight vanilla. Very little sillage.). And the fact that it might be too sweet and summery. On me the silage is moderate but present (it seems to warm-up and intensifies with my body heat in warm weather but never cloyinga plus as I don't have to reapply)and longivity is about 6-7 hours ending with a warm woody and a bit soft spicy base. I do indeed love being surrounded softly by this Aura! Elizabeth Arden Red Door Aura for Wo (27.93 USD), Right now there are 18 items on or Many items for sale on, Perfume rating3.91out of5 with484 votes. Personally, I don't think this can compare to the original Red Door. Its not for me but if u like strong classic scents it is definatley one for you! This is a gorgeous musky floral that is even prettier (and less headache inducing) than the original Red Door. I'm glad that I did because this is such a lovely scent after it dies down a little bit. I personally dislike the original Red Door. I, myself, am not familiar with Sophia Grojsman's scents, however, I am familiar with Red Door 'Revealed' and 'True Love'. For some reason, after a few months of wearing it, the magic went away for me on this one. I prefer to wear this as a bedtime scent, after just having a long bubble bath. Fragrantica Trends is a relative value that shows the interest of Fragrantica members in this fragrance over time. It shares similar notes and is one of the most underrated perfumes ever . Long lasting too. IMO, this makes an ideal signature fragrance as it sparkling and sensual all in one. . Och yes, it is just like NR For Her and SJP Lovely but who cares I like it. Elizabeth Arden True Love - I have an immense admiration for all of Sophia Grojsman's scents, so I thought I might like this one as well! I'd love to hear from people who are actually familiar with at least one of those! It really is hard to capture the notes in this one. Lovely! I managed to get a great deal at 100ml. This is an unusual scent. I am glad to see this added to the databank! Rich. This is absolutely divine in the summertime. This reminds me of two scents actually - the original Hot Couture and Amarige D'Amour, almost a love child of the two scents on my chemistry - it is very wearable and I can imagine it working for warm or cooler weather it has quickly become my go to scent for when I cannot decide what to wear. One of my favorite scents when I can't decide what to wear. Top notes are Raspberry, Orange Blossom and Bergamot; middle notes are Jasmine and Rose; base notes are Sandalwood, Amber and Musk. I need the tender, soft scents, even though I fancy myself to be a strong female. Okay scent, not something I would consider to be a signature scent but is nice to wear to wear for a change. I tried it a third, fourth, and fifth time. Spicy!!!! Right now there are 6 items on or Buy it online only 2 items on, Perfume rating3.83out of5 with256 votes. Red Door Aura was launched in 2012. It's also clean smelling, and it's strong without being too over bearing. Pretty simple. It smells kind of like an older fashioned late 80's - early 90's type-of-fragrance. Very nice together. Merry Christmas to me early. all about the Red Door collection, WPC: Interview With Alexandre Illan, Perfumer of the Rammstein Line and More, Marc Jacobs Daisy Ever So Fresh Eau de Parfum, New Magnolias This Summer (2022): L'Eau D'Issey Eau & Magnolia, Miu Miu Twist Eau de Magnolia, and Beautiful Magnolia Intense Estee Lauder. I remember smelling this one and liking it a lot. Better than Red Door. Smells very womanly to me, particularly after it develops on me, becoming warmer, muskier and spicier (although maintains a floral sweetness) making it much more seductive than the initial fresh, flirty fruitiness, so I personally see it as an evening out perfume. Really not that bad for a mainstream perfume. I swear, it smelled like OFF bug spray. It can be worn during the day, out for dinner or for a romantic evening. I love True Love! I don't get the similarity to alien at all but it's amazing nonetheless. I can detect bitter almond although this is not stated and liquorice. Another thing, is i was filled with memories of childhood and i think it was memories of teh origional red door, which was popular when i was young. Soft, delicat, musky scent. In short this juice has its own character that I find unique (atleast to my nose) hence now my new signature fragrance. I can tolerate Red Door, but it's not my favorite. It's an interesting scent, but unfortunately has zero sillage and longevity on me. I think that I can say with great confidence that I would imagine that Alien EDT smells exactly like Red Door Aura! This fragrance is delicious on a warm skin. I would say Aura is more of a floral with strong sweet and woodsy undertones. On me it smells very similar to Narciso Rodriguez EDT and Lovely by Sarah Jessica Parker. For me it is mostly peony, cyclamen and Musk. Aura is easily wearable on a daily basis and manages to be both sweetly zesty and woodsy-creamy and its structure is well balanced and nicely rounded. And my husband likes it. Please help me choose! I got a lot of the jasmine and orange blossom, and the dry down smelled sorta musky and ambery. Red Door Aura won't surprise you with anything unique, but it is extremely pleasant, something that I'm sure the young girls will go wild over. The tea note at the top is delicious and the fact that it lasts ages on my skin (which most don't) is a definite plus. So delicious, balances sweetness and freshness with spiciness and warmth. I thought I was in love. Had a small sample size had to get the big one. I suppose it would be yummy for winter. I was thinking it did remind me quite alot of anais anais which i also have, but not enough to find the perfumes too similar. I LOVE the jasmine in this! I do get lots of compliments from people, and it has a nice longevity without overpowering sillage. Unfortunately, I refuse to wear perfumes that I associate with past times in my life, so this one has to stay where I left it. I like itBut it has to grow on you, and you will like it better after it dies down. I've gotten some compliments on this. Perfumes: 73,888 Aura would be nice for spring and perhaps early summer, but something about it reminds me of winter as well, so I guess a person could use it year round. This fragrance has made me go nuts :p. This smells very musky. All the Red Door haters should really give this one a go. so it will be perfect for spring and summer since I wear my Alien during autumn and winter. It is no longer available in the US, but I remember when it was launched -- I loved it! Bought this yesterday the bottle is pretty and heavy and the scent is nice doesnt remind me of alien at all but I do detect fruit and something spicy but I wont be keeping this becausr the smell doesnt project and I dont think anyone around me can smell it which defeats the purpose of wearing a perfume, I am wearing this for the first time today, and it is REALLY peppery on me. Love, love, love! So I bought it. Red Door Velvet by Elizabeth Arden is a Floral Fruity fragrance for women. Look out for that pink cap come the summer! One of my faves. So similar to Narciso Rodriguez EDT , only difference is sillage and longevity , Narciso wins in both however not a bad job if you want a cheaper version for Narciso Rodriguez .. And the way all that is combined in 'True Love', it's not a very good combination. It warms me up, makes me feel confident and bold yet feminine and sensual. This is just an easier wear. This one is very nice as it seems to be a "fresher" take on the original, and it really is more modern too. After about 1-2 hours on my skin there is definitely a soft resemblance to Alien, but don't go buying this hoping to smell of Thierry Mugler. An elegant one really. There isn't really any comparison between this scent and the original Red Door. the raspberry is 'fizzy' to me & the jasmine is almost gentle to my nose. Such an uplifting scent! It's a very seductive fragrance with impressive staying power. Fragrance Reviews: 1,287,043 Red Door Aura opens up with fruits and citrus, then the fruitiness lingers as the gentle but bright florals develop. ummi3, sorry can't swap - I was asked which one I'd prefer as a gift. It smelled sophisticated. Similar to Narciso Rodriguez for Her and need I to say, waaaaaaaay cheapper, longlasting also, LOVE it, for me it is a floral musk though! Marissa Zappas Announces A New Collection + A Giveaway! This is a fragrance I have come to love, I hadn't worn musky perfumes much before this one, but now I know I enjoy them. . I couldn't wear Alien because it was too obnoxious at times. I would like to add that Red Door smells fantastic on my sister who is only 23 but my senses won't be able to handle it on myself. I got this when it first came out. Goodluck with your purchase. It may be that this is so well blended that I couldnt detect any individual notes or it may be because it is such a soft scent. There is the SLIGHTEST hint of the original Red Door (which I wore too much of and for too long when I was a poor youngster). For me it is mostly peony, cyclamen and Musk. Fragrantica Trends is a relative value that shows the interest of Fragrantica members in this fragrance over time. So, if you like this one try to stock at discount before it disappears from stores ! To me this smells just like Narciso Rodrigues for Her. I truly don't see how Red Door could ever come close to the French art of making perfumes.. I find red door is for the mature lady- 40's and so on. The original Red Door is my mother in-law's "holy grail", even though she wears it well it failed to grab my attention but to my suprise Aura is sparkling & a flirtatious personallity to it that evokes an aura of morden women that provokes glamour, elegance and sophistication in her every step. It's actually a bit hard to find, but Ebay usually has it listed. This smells so much like honey to me. Red Door is, and has always been, a big no no for me. I can definitely smell the similarities with NR for her and SJP's Lovely, however the basenote is not as sweet on me as Lovely is, it's even muskier. I'll try anything once, especially if it relates to perfume. It gives it just a bit more depth, and another branch of fragrance to explore. Much stronger than any other Elizabeth Arden perfume I've tried (green tea and sunflower ranges) before. So, so feminine and sparkling. The first thing i thought when i sprayed it was, i really liked it. I smelled this while I was out today; I used to wear the original like crazy when I was younger. There's some patchouli that deepens it but not in a herbal way. I am loving this one soooo much this Fall that I will be getting myself a backup. I was puttering around my gym's washroom one day, and the management had generously supplied this lotion for everyone's use, so of course, I tried it. Why is this not listed as a note?? I loved the sweet raspberry and orange blossom, with that hint of sandalwood and jasmine dry down. It's not a bam in your face type of smell. You must login or register to post a reply. my mum & grandmother both wear the original red door & while it smells amazing on them & i like it, its not something i'd wear. The nose behind this fragrance is Carlos Benaim. Nothing like the original Red Door. I've never smelled the original Red Door perfume so I can't compare Red Door Aura to that in any way. I do find it strong so I have to be in the mood for a musky perfume. Thanks in advance. I decided to give myself a spritz to see if I would get a different reaction. I am sooooooooo sad! Upon first sniff you can tell Aura is in the Red Door product line. Certainly not in-your-face as the original can be. Aura is now one of my favotire florals ! The opening is not fruity on me, I would say it's mainly sandalwood and orange blossom. I like the underlying scent, it is nice, but I'm just getting heaps of pepper and it's covering up the beauty of what is in here..:-/. The seductive and very feminine composition is signed by perfumer who signed the original version- Carlos Benaim. Like Red Door but can't wear it as a daywear perfume because it's too strong? It reminds me of gucci, lovely by sarah jessica parker, n rodriguez for her. I love its elegant and classy character and enjoy the raspberry-citrus blast which first greets you with tart juicyness.Aura then becomes creamy with gentle blossoming florals and a rich sandalwood -amber scent .Once more she changes, drying down to a sweet musky scent that still holds more than a hint of raspberry and much sweetness. . Thanks. This fragrance would suit any woman in her 30's or 40's. Donating this blind buy to a Zumbathon raffle! The floral notes are lovely and the fragrance feels stylish while remaining modern and fits even the younger woman, I think. It has a sort of thick fuzzy feeling to it (but without being a "deep" or "dark" type of smell), good for the daytime in cooler weather of fall/winter. I found this fragrance by chance at my local pharmacy and purchased it without a tester. Sara J Parkers Lovely "ANNIVERSARY EDITION " is also similar , and in my opinion far prettier than Lovely or For Her or Red Door Velvet . I particularly love the rose mingling with the musk and sandalwood. I will be wearing this to a wedding today..still one of my scents of choice for special occasions. It's safe and easy wear. But I was pleasently surprised when I smelled this. It seems quite oriental, but also combined with powder, some spice, & some light florals. A nice blend of fruits and flowers, a bit more grown-up and elegant than your typical fruity-floral, yet modern. I regretted my purchase. If you disliked Red Door, I urge you not to dismiss this fragrance. I actually think this is a better version of TM's Alien, because it leaves out the chewiness and brings in the freshness of orange blossom and bergamot. A honey like sweetness. This is indeed similar to Narciso's For Her. A little goes a long way. Let me tell you this: 'Revealed' is a very soft, powdery, floraly, light scent. I, too, bought this one unsniffed, and immediately after I smelled it, I remember I felt as if the name did not fit the smell of the fragrance AT ALL. It is one of the best elegant perfumes I have smelled, it is velvety, soft, smooth flowery scent, and smells exclusive. No wonder that I sprayed Red Door Velvet on my wrist with some caution. My body chemistry likes the original Red Door too but the original one is my MIL's signature scent and I doubt my husband wants me to smell like his mother, lol! This opens very floral fruity, light, and mildly sweet. Although I usually like Elizabeth Arden scents, I was a little suspicious of Red Door Aura, because I always thought that the original Red Door is too heavy, sweet and overpowering and perhaps most suitable for ladies of age 50+. However, for the first time in my life I fell in love with a perfume which was none other than RED DOOR VELVET ! If you don't have the money for NR For Her EDT definitely purchase a bottle of Red Door Velvet. I would prefer something stronger for nightime. 2 or 3 spray's get me through my office work day with this one. It seems very sophisticated. This one is by far the best choice: Elizabeth Arden Red Door Revealed GOOD LUCK !! It can be a good daytime scent as well as a good bedtime scent(but not so much an evening/night-time scent). Stick to this one! This is just spicy enough to have some character but not in a way more modern people will find obnoxious. I keep my original Red Door for special occasions because I find it much stronger: a power perfume of the 80's inddeed to my great pleasure! I have to really be in the mood to wear this. If you want to own a frag from the Red Door collection but found the first one too strong, then give this one a try. Pleased with the longevity, considering its a toilette. I'm not a fan of the original Red Door so I was surprised at how likeable this is, at first. Maybe I should try it again in cold weather. Unique! To consider , even for those who despise Red Door original (imho :D ). Perfume lovers: 792,541 I also pick up the slightly dirty, sour Juicy Couture. P.M me. Please login or register. To me this smells like an old sofa or a 2-star hotel's slightly dirty carpet. Science Says Maybe, From the Gardens of Versailles to the Gardens of Babylon; The Allure of Olfactory Exploration Beckons at Jardin de Parfums. Red Door Aura by Elizabeth Arden is a Floral Woody Musk fragrance for women. It smells so good. As you said, you're more into the lighter scents of today, which convinces me to think that you'd most definitely prefer 'Revealed' over 'True Love'.
